Welcome to the Greater New York Regional Chapter Website!
We support the mission of the ACSM to improve health and fitness by utilizing the science of exercise and sports medicine. Our academic institutions are first rate and diverse including all areas of Exercise Science and Sports Medicine. The Greater New York Region is a center of media and business and has a key role in the translation of scientific knowledge to the public. As you see, there are many areas for increased participation. We welcome students, researchers and clinicians, including all the multiple facets of exercise and sports medicine; physiologists, podiatrists, chiropractors, dieticians and physicians. Please join us in our mission to improve health thru activity.
CHAPTER NOTICE - Passing of Dr. Richard "Dick" Warner-It is with great sadness that we share with you the news of the passing of our founding president, Richard "Dick" Warner. He died on February 14th, from liver cancer. He has been a friend and mentor to many of us...and his love and devotion to ACSM was unwavering. HIs 50 year membership was recently acknowledged in the ACSM Bulletin. He is survived by his dear wife, and best friend - Anne. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 23rd at 11 am at the Presbyterian Church in Tenafly (55 Magnolia Avenue, Tenafly, NJ 07670). There will be a luncheon to follow.
